Real women placed SECOND.

According to this study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, AI-generated images outranked REAL photographs of women in sexual attractiveness, aesthetic appeal, AND emotional pleasantness — all three.
The researchers noted this is the FIRST study of its kind to systematically compare real versus artificial erotic stimuli along these dimensions.
Think about that for a second.
We are at the point where a machine can generate an image of a woman who does NOT exist — and men will find that image MORE attractive than a photograph of an actual human being.

Her team surveyed 649 adults — mostly men — who identified as being sexually attracted to women. They were shown images across SIX categories and rated each one from zero to 100. Real photographs still won on REALISM. People knew the photos were more authentic. But here is the wild part — knowing something is fake did NOT make it less attractive. The AI images were rated as less real AND more desirable at the same time. According to PsyPost, "the fabricated images reliably score higher in measures of attractiveness and overall pleasantness" — even though participants knew they were looking at AI.

AGE mattered — and the gap is generational. Older participants gave higher ratings to real photographs and AI images. Younger participants? They responded MORE favorably to hentai — stylized Japanese animated pornography. According to the Archives of Sexual Behavior study, researchers believe this is because younger generations grew up saturated with digital manipulation and stylized animation. Their baseline for attractiveness was shaped by screens, not by real people.

This connects to a BIGGER crisis. According to an Institute for Family Studies and YouGov survey of 2,000 adults, 25% of young adults believe AI has the potential to REPLACE real-life romantic relationships. And here is the kicker — heavy porn users are the most open to AI relationships of any group surveyed. The feedback loop is already forming.
Number FIVE.
The deepfake industry is EXPLODING. According to DeepStrike research, deepfake files surged from 500,000 in 2023 to a projected 8 MILLION in 2025 — a 900% annual growth rate. And between 96 and 98 percent of all deepfake videos online are pornographic in nature. This is not a niche problem. This is an industrial-scale rewiring of male attraction.

Here is what makes this study important beyond just the headline.
The researchers CONTROLLED for variables. They matched body types, poses, hair color, and skin tones across all six categories. They stripped out tattoos, jewelry, distractions. Everyone was rating the same thing — just in different formats.
And STILL — the AI won.
Lead researcher Ellen Zakreski noted that AI technology, sometimes called deepfake imagery, produces ultra-realistic images with sharp visual resolution that older computer-generated technology cannot match. The AI can build a woman from scratch — body shape, facial features, proportions — with ABSOLUTE control over every detail.

AI can generate the statistically optimized version of attractiveness — and it appears that is exactly what men respond to.
Now here is where the science gets deeper.
A University of Toronto study found that when AI is prompted to generate female bodies, it overwhelmingly produces young, thin, sexually objectified images — reflecting and AMPLIFYING existing biases in online media. According to research published in The Conversation, 71% of images on social media platforms are already generated by AI.
So the content men are seeing every day is increasingly ARTIFICIAL.
And according to Psychology Today, the AI girlfriend industry is already generating BILLIONS of dollars annually, with nearly half of users interacting with their virtual partner DAILY.
BYU professor Brian Willoughby's research found nearly ONE IN THREE young adult men in the US have chatted with an AI boyfriend or girlfriend — and of those, MORE THAN ONE IN FIVE prefer it over interacting with a real human.
We are not at a tipping point anymore, fellas.
We may have already passed it.

So what do you DO with this information?
First — KNOW it's happening. This is not a moral lecture. This is a daily accountability partner moment. Awareness is everything.
If you are consuming content daily and that content is increasingly AI-generated, you are training your brain to respond to something that does NOT exist. That has real consequences for how you perceive real women, real relationships, and your own satisfaction with life.
Second — the study found that surgically enhanced women scored LOWEST of all categories. Lower than sex dolls. Lower than hentai. People found the "trying too hard to be perfect" version LEAST appealing. There is something real in that. Authentic human variation has value. Your brain may just need reminding.
